Hoppy New Year from Rabbit Room Arts!

Hello from Rabbit HQ!!

Today, being News Years Day and all, I've been reflecting on the year that was 2015. I realized it was a pretty perfect year...

I was asked to paint a painting for our local Whole Foods Co-op, where I've been a member/owner for about 15 years and where I used to do a lot of volunteering. Our Co-op expanded a lot over the year, adding a larger cafe space, and that's where my painting is fortunate enough to be!

For the past few years, I've been working with the amazing Christine Valters Painter of Abbey of the Arts on a project to create a series of Dancing Monks. This year, we'll be working on more Celtic Saints, and I can't wait to get started on the next few in the series. Thanks to Christine for her ongoing support of the Rabbit Room!

I had a show this year done in conjuction with my good friend and metal artist, Evan Everhart. Paintings for this show were partly inspired by our joint love of Birds and Trees (we called our show "the Birds and the Trees"), and partly by photos of birds and trees I took during the year on various trips. Which leads me to the next thing...

...Trips to Europe. I was a lucky lucky lucky girl this year and got to travel to Europe TWICE! The first trip was to the British Isles, the first vacation I've had with my family since I was about 7-years-old. And the second was a trip to Romania! WOW! And of course when I as in both places, I took pictures of pigeons, the number one bird I'm obsessed with. So, my paintings for the show reflected my Love of Pigeons:

Last, but not least, I've had the opportunity to work with the Benedictine community in Erie, where Sister Joan Chittester is based. I've admired her writing for many years, and this year, I got to illustrate a calendar for her, and I got to meet her. All very cool!

I can't wait to see what 2016 will bring! Right now, I'm working on painting a rain barrel for the Erie County Conservation District. It will be revealed in the summer. I'm also moving all my art orders over to Etsy. I hope you'll look for me there!

Wishing each of you an hoppy new year!
Marcy
